Abandonded Poisson

Abandoned village of Poisson at the bottom of the sea stairs. The village moved to the cliffs above the beach because of piracy problems.

Alto Falls

The Alto river runs at high elevation for most of its track and then drops abrutly some 200-300 feet at this point, making a spectacular waterfall.

Alto Rio

The "high river" runs through the hills before dropping down a large waterfall just north of Mainbridge, the only crossable location north of Indra's Palms.

Amberway

Amberway is the seat of House Seelu and so named for the grain it provides. With no rivers running through it and no viable coastal access, Amberway is sparsely inhabited, but the warm climate and adequate rainfall still provide excellent farming. Unlike its neighbor to the north, Latterton, Amberway produces mainly core food products such as grain and rice that are kept on the island to feed the inhabitants rather than being used as exports.

There's a small community of dwarves in the hills to the northeast, and several live in town as well.

Antiga Peak

Literally "Ancient Peak", the highest point of the central hills, or the "Nameless Mountains" as many call them. It reaches some 8,000 feet at its summit.

Armada Theater

A real source of pride in the south rim, the Armada Theater is a large, roofed establishment capable of seating nearly 500 people at once, including luxury boxes for wealthier clientele. Traveling troupes from all over the world will stop in Nameless and perform for a few months, drawing huge incomes from both local merchants and those stopping into port for just a few nights.

Bandido Beach

Outlaw's Beach. If pirates were to hypothecially seek safe haven on this island, this is where they'd land.

Bandit Tribes

In the southwest hills of Bremer, a number of bandit tribes have taken up residence far away from the prying eyes of any of the cities. Unlike the guilds, these are largely unorganized groups of ruffians, usually savage humanoids.

Bay o f
Storms

One of the twin bays on the south side of Nameless. Despite the menacing names, both bays are actually excellent ports for ships sailing the Copo Deus bay.

Bay of
Broken Ships

One of the twin bays on the south side of Nameless. Despite the menacing names, both bays are actually excellent ports for ships sailing the Copo Deus bay.

Boa Bebida River

Literally "Water from the gods" -- This river is the only natural source of fresh [running] water on the north side of the island, so everyone north of here has to rely on rain water and holding tanks (or natural depressions such as the Three Lakes).

Bremer

Seat of House Bafford, a weak house which inhabits one of the largest but least desirable stretches of land on Nameless. Like Palervale, it is predominantly a community of grain farmers and shepards. A side effect of this weakness is that Bremer has a bandit problem, and not from the organized guilds. Since Bremer's law enforcement is minimal, a tribe of savage bandits has gravitated to the hills in the southwest. They are mostly a hodge-podge of leftover ruffians from various crews sailing through Nameless. Lords in other lands have also been known, on occasion, to have one of their more troublesome citizens dumped in Nameless.

Although the Baffords are currently one of the weakest houses in Nameless, it was not always so. In fact, they are one of the oldest and used to control the northern half of the island. House Vernold actually descends from House Bafford. Long ago, Lady Nevelet Bafford married her niece, Abigail, to a cunning immigrant named Van Vernold from Sol Povos. It is said Van was of a weak house – barely even noble blood – and Lady Bafford’s advisors counseled her against the move, but supposedly Abigail was truly in love and only weakly of Bafford blood, so Lady Bafford didn’t see a problem with it. They were given a small stretch of land near what is now Northrock to setup their estate. Over the years, through cunning manipulation and by making bargains with the right parties (some of the early guilds), Van Vernold rapidly gained power, and his sons later secured Northrock as the seat of their house, effectively turning the table on the Baffords. Despite her blood, it is said Abigail was loyal to her husband to the end, often aiding him in his plots against house Bafford. Perhaps she felt slighted by being considered such a weak member of House Bafford, or perhaps she really loved Van.

City

The westernmost and more populous of the two cities most commonly referred to as Nameless (although that name usually refers to the entire collection of cities on this island).

City Hall

The ruling center of West Rim, this walled compound holds the offices of the Bailiff, the Constable, and the Chamberlain, who heads the Office of Customs and Tallages (taxes) -- a truly important office considering the staggering amount of trade vessels coming through Nameless. The compound also houses the training grounds and barracks of the professional militia in West Rim (approximately 170 men who are utilized mainly as a police force to maintain *some* sort of order).

CITY INFO
Population: 17012
Standing Militia (guards): 170

Common Borough

The bulk of Northrock's population lives in farming and ranching communities around the Three Lakes, where they can easily irrigate their lands. Although most of the northern part of the island is solid rock, there is 10-20 inches of topsoil, which is enough to farm most food crops with access to irrigation. The water of the Three Lakes, although murky and unsuitable for humans without purification is still useful for farm animals, so a lot of livestock is raised in the region as well. Unfortunately, this area is 10 miles from town, so those working ships, the docks, and other jobs in and around the castle have taken to settling in the Docks District intead.

Common Quarter

This crowded, dirty region houses the low folk of West Rim, mainly those working as unskilled labor in the surrounding quarters, the docks, and for the various merchants. Commoners who are not a direct cog in the machinery of West Rim tend to live on the Western Farms where conditions are better. Several of the guilds have strongholds in this region. There is a market square in the northwest, straddling the river.

On the south side, this quarter houses some wealthier inhabitants, namely the fishermen who supply much of the food for the island. Since there are precious few places to launch a boat on Nameless, the fishermen must go out of the West Docks, just like the merchants. This requires money, and as a result most of the fishing operations are quite large, and the proprietors are nearly merchant-class in their standing.

Commons

In East Rim, there isn't so much a common district as a general assortment of low-folk who have slowly built up houses next to one another and spread out to cover the eastern land across from the Merchant Quarter. The other place they have settled in numbers is on the eastern lands of the Rawlin estate.

Docks District

The Common Borough is 10 miles from the docks and the castle, which is too far for most peoples' taste who work on the docks or in/around the castle. So a number of common folk have begun settling the docks district. Now, this dirty, crime-ridden area of town holds 300 or 400 people, and several small drinking holes and gambling dens. After all, a lot of unskilled labor is required to haul goods up and down the great staircase to the docks.

East Docks

The second largest port in Nameless. The West Docks are about 50% larger but the East Docks still provide over a mile of accommodations for ships. The location right next to Haven Forest introduces some crime problems, but the docks are also right across the street from the capital of East Rim so law enforcement is close at hand.

The location also provides some interesting opportunities for smugglers and thieves. A popular strategy is to strike a deal with Baroness Rawlin to secure passage through Haven Forest and then rob or smuggle goods off a ship in the East Docks. The goods are then transported through the forest to the South Docks where a boat sails out that night to Le Marke or some other city where the stolen goods may be liquidated. Only foolish guards will follow this heist into the forest, and the only way around goes north of Indra's Palms and takes two days. Of course, pigeons may be sent directly, but the denizens of the forest have become adept at shooting them down.

East Rim Capital

This traditional medieval castle serves as the seat for Count Batsuen Lowell, a location for all city functions, and a barracks for the standaing militia. All these functions are encapsulated inside a gated, outer wall. During normal city operation, the gates are open and people may enter/leave the courtyard as they choose to visit the Office of Customs and Tallages, the Bailiff, or the Constable. In case of emergency, this castle can absorb thousands into its courtyard and bunker down for a siege. As with West Rim, a wealthy commercial district surrounds the castle.

Exile Island

Small, unsettled island to the south of Nameless. Ship captains and guilds have been known to dump their insolent or disobedient members off on this island to die. It has also been rumored that some of the guilds, notably the Raging Sailors, use the island as a safe haven.

Haven
Forest

Situated between the twin bays, this forest is where vagrants usually seek haven. It is infested with low-lifes and thieves, most of whom have no affiliation or allegiance at all. In fact, the denizens of Haven Forest are reviled by the authorities of Nameless and the organized crime alike. The presence of this forest also means that the only feasilble way to travel between the two cities is by sea.

Hidden Falls

A small waterfall hidden in the depths of Haven Forest. Falls into a small body of water called Hidden Lake.

High Temple of Indra

The Thunder God has a large following in Nameless for two reasons. First, he controls the storms, which is important to any island culture, but he's also loved for his trickery and cunning by the more nefarious citizens. This seafront temple, built over the years with funds from countless wealthy merchants, is the largest on the island to any god and the largest to Indra anywhere. The high priest is an albino man named Ezra Cardon. He is the head of the Order of Storms and holds as much sway in the politics of the south rim as any noble, Baron, or Count. Two bishops report to him on this island and head the churches in East Rim and Northrock.

Horse Plains

Several packs of wild horses and not much else roam the northeast plains.

Indra's Palms

Two sets of hills surrounding East Rim and West Rim, providing great shelter from stroms and heavy winds. They make a pair of cradles like two hands holding the cities, hence they're named after the God of air and storms.

Indra's Palms

Latterton

Seat of House Devereux. Surprisingly, the island of Nameless doesn't subsist entirely on trade revenue. The lands along the Boa Bebida River periodically flood. Coupled with the tropical climate, this makes the area perfect for growing a number of crops, most notably coffee, bananas, and various other fruits that serve as cash crops and drive exports from Nameless.

Leeward Coast

The south and west sides of the island are mostly protected from wind, but steep cliffs still surround most of the island. There are very few viable places for ships to land, but pirates and smugglers can find ways. The south and west sides of the island also tend to get a lot more precipitation than the north and east sides.

Lighthouse

Technically, this lighthouse serves both the cities of East Rim and West Rim, but is operated almost exclusively by West Rim due to lack of accessibility through Haven Forest.

Like everything else in the south rim, the lighthouse has ties to organized crime. Rumor has it the Raging Sailors can arrange for the lighthouse to "fail" at convenient times.

Lowell Estate

On a cliff overlooking the bay and surrounding ocean lies the estate of House Lowell. Although Batsuen is Count of all of East Rim, the family has maintained its own private lands as a Barony, and the count has installed his eldest daughter, Selova as ruler. She is a shrewd woman with designs on being Countess herself one day.

Mainbridge Inn

Actually a small village, the Mainbridge Inn is sprawled out around the large stone bridge across the only crossable portion of the alto Rio, and if you rule out the Haven Forest, the ONLY land path between East and West Rim.

The inn proprietor and mayor is a halfling named Cecil Shamblestone. He is a valuable resource for stories and information (lv4 expert; skills -- appraise, bluff, decipher script, diplomacy, forgery, knowledge-local, knowledge-history, sense motive). He lives in the northwest room of the inn with his wife, Olivia.

Two half-orc brothers live in the town. Narg, a lv4 warrior, is the town sheriff. Nubork, his retarded twin brother, is a groom at the inn. A lv5 elfin rogue named Ronin lives here. He is a journeyman in the FoD, and 6 initiates live in the town with him, including two more full elves (lv1 and lv2). Ronin is distinctive because he's wearing a +1 mithril shirt.

Manfred Estate

Baron Charle Manfred live on a vast estate of roughly 3000 acres in the northeast corner of town, with lands extending well into the hills. He is the only lord in West Rim who doesn't reside in the noble quarter.

As the most powerful Baron in West Rim, Manfred has developed a reputation for opposing the Count on a great number of political issues. Some believe he is a member of the Redridge Gentlemen.

Market Square

Most all commercial activity in Northrock takes place in the Market Square. Here, people sell everything from local foodstuffs, farming goods, and bread to luxury items such as jewelry or imported silks and carpets. Both nobles and common folk alike shop in the same area.

Local clerics have taken advantage of this common mixing area to setup a variety of churches. Of course, Shiva, Amun, and Anubis are all present, but gods like Thors also have a significant following due to the "Monster's Borough" to the southeast.

Merchant Quarter

A smaller but mirror version of the district by the same name in West Rim. Here live the wealthy merchants making fortunes off the trade routes running through the Copo Deus Bay.

Merchant Quarter

This wealthy strip of oceanfront property is home to the merchant class of West Rim and represents one of the most affluent group of merchants outside Le Marke. Make no mistake about it -- although not noble by birth, they have every bit as much sway in Nameless as the Barons.

Monster's Borough

The unofficial name for a hodge-podge settlement of monstrous humanoids who have settled in this area of Nameless because they find they're more accepted by each other than the rest of society. Altogether, there are some 50-100 families in this region, for a total of 200-300 people. They look to a wise old Orc named Hiruk S'gnar, the proprietor of The Sweaty Dancer as their de facto leader.

Although most avoid this neighborhood, it is nonetheless a favorite destination for those recruiting unskilled workers for jobs in the cities. Bugbears, Orcs, and Gnolls are all typically stronger than humans, and harder workers as well.

Mucky Duck

An upscale establishment serving the merchant and noble districts of East Rim. In addition to posh versions of the standard inn/tavern offerings, proprietor Oliver Bluetooth has a set of baths and can arrange companionship for the evening. Oliver has made his fortune keeping things discreet and staying out of others' business -- guilds, politics, or otherwise.

Nameless Bank

Officially the "Bank of East Rim" it is called "Bank Without a Name" or "Nameless Bank" by most. It is more like a military compound than a bank, and a good number of East Rim's soldiers spend their time guarding it. Merchants from West Rim use the bank as well, but they typically sail rather than risk traveling the roads.

Nameless is fairly advanced economically, and the bank offers loans and deals with currency exchanges. In fact, many merchants on their way to/from Le Marke stop off at Nameless simply to convert currencies. The bank is run by the Chamberlain of East Rim.

Navio Quebra Delta

The Boa Bebida empties into the ocean over a twenty mile span known as the Navio Quebra Delta, or more literally the "shipbreaker delta." Over the years, periods of heavy, intermittant rain have caused flash floods on the river, bringing large amounts of debris down from the hills in the center of the island. This had deposited all along the coast, creating a rocky, treacherous shoreline for any vessels.

Noble Quarter

Here lie the houses of the noble well-to-dos and the estates of Count Ostryd himself. Barons Bardol and Percivale also live in this sector.

The quarter is laid out with a wealthy commercial district directly surrounding Ostryd's palace. Houses of lesser nobles encircle the commercial district. Bardol and Percivale's estates are on the west and northwest (respectively) edges of the quarter with lands extending well into the hills.

Noble Quarter

Really the Noble AND the Merchant Quarter, mixed together. Fancy houses and estates line the cliffs overlooking the ocean 200 feet below. There are also some small luxury shops mixed in -- mainly services such as barbers, but technically this is not a commercial district and even the nobles shop at the market square to the south.

North Docks

Northrock is spread out around the only truly viable northern port, and even so the city is built 200 feet above the beach below, and the shallow bay can only accommodate small vessels.

Getting goods up and down from the city turns out to be a major challenge. A "great staircase" is carved into the wall, allowing people to climb up and down. A series of pulleys has been installed to help get crates up and down the cliff face, but many merchnats have found it's cheaper to simply hire the most unskilled laborers to carry their packages up the staircase rather than brent time on the pulleys. This creates a large demand for labor in the area, and has led to the settling of the Docks District.

Northern Cliffs

Although the north side of the island is slightly less wind-beaten than the east side, it is lined with high cliffs and viable landing spots are few and far between. In fact, Northrock is built on the only substantial one.

Northrock Capital

Seat of Count Gersham Vernold, lord of all lands on the north half of the island. His banners are Bremer and Latterton, and the north side of the island is run more like a conventional lord/serf system. There is no elected mayor or bailiff -- Lord Vernold appoints whoever he wishes to whichever posts he wishes.

House Vernold used to be a servant of House Bafford, but long ago a man named Van Vernold flipped the tables (see notes on Bremer).

The city of Northrock exists mainly as an alternative port for smaller ships that may be looking to avoid the big city and/or its taxes and customs. It is also a favorite destination for smugglers who wish to get goods into or out of the south rim.

The main keep of Northrock itself is a fully-walled, medieval style castle enclosing the Lord's keep and all major town functions, including barracks for the standing militia, stables, a blacksmith, administrative offices, and a courtyard big enough to pull the town into should they come under attack.

Palervale

Seat of House Malgerius. Like its neighbor, Amberway, Palervale serves little purpose other than to provide farming foodstuffs to the south rim. Unlike its neighbor, Palervale is on the windward side of the island without protection of the central hills. It is also much dryer than the west side of the island. Farming is restricted to grain, and shepards raise sheep in the grasslands. Palervale is named for the thickets of pale aspen trees that grow in the western part of the vale.

Poisson

Small village at the top of the cliff face. See the "Secret of Windswept Wall" D&D3 adventure for more details. The village used to be on the beach at the bottom of the Sea Stairs, but it was plagued by pirates too often. It has moved to the cliffs above the small bay, above the Sea Stairs. There are still pirate problems on some of the small islands just outside the bay (which can only handle very small ships anyway), but the clifftop fortress is much more effective at defending the area. As one of the only places on the island where a ship can even hope to dock, this bay is veyr important to Poisson Village, and also to Bremer.

Rawlin Estate

On paper, Baroness Mildred Rawlin is the largest landowner in the south basin (12000 acres). In reality, she ends up being the smallest because her charge (Haven Forst) is infested with Brigands and nearly untravelable. One side effect of this situation is that the Lowell family partially blames her for the relative irrelevance of East Rim. In their eyes, if she weren't such an incompetent ruler, she would clear out Haven Forest, thus connecting East Rim to West Rim. However, the status of the forsest makes it a barrier between the two cities with the only viable route between going north of Indra's Palms. So, most ships dock in West Rim, most trade goes through West Rim, and most wealthy merchants setup shop in West Rim.

Although it seems she spends her time attending balls and shopping the latest fashions, Baroness Rawlin is actually far from incompetent. She is deeply involved with several guilds, most notably the Raging Sailors, the Flock of Dawn, and the Glory of Yondalla -- guilds that place a heavy emphasis on smuggling. Her careful control of banditry and the outlaws in Haven Forest allows her to make it passable for some parties and an obstacle for others. She holds a personal grudge against the Redridge Gentlemen who refuse her membership because she's a woman.

The eastern Rawlin lands technically extend to the East Road, but peasants and common folk have slowly built up a burrough in that region and live there as if they own the land. It is yet another piece of evidence making other nobles think Baroness Rawlin is incompetent.

Rio Branco

The "white river," so named for two reasons. First, it is exposed to the windward side of the island, and during heavy winds will churn into a solid froth in places. Second, there are a series of waterfalls as the river jumps down 20-30 feet at a time on its way to the coast. contrast this to the Alto River which drops several hundred feet at once at Alto Falls.

Sea Stairs

Some time long ago, this cave on the northeast side of the island was worked to created a staircase 200 feet down to a small beach below, capable of receiving small vessels. However, only the most adept sailors would be capable of navigating the rocky, shallow coastal waters. The rest of the cave system is natural and it's unknown where it leads.

South Docks

What else could the docks be other than an unsavory, dangerous, crime-ridden area? Most honorable merchants use either the east or west docks, which makes the south docks a particularly attractive destination for smugglars.

Temple District

Although Indra is the predominant religion in Nameless, the melting pot of races and cultures guarantees that a wide array of gods find worship. This region of the city has numerous small temples to most gods. Of course, Amun and Anubis have a following, as they do everywhere, but Shiva, goddess of the sea, is probably the second most commonly worshipped. Belrab and Thor also have sizeable congregations, due to the relatively large numbers of monstrous humanoids.

Temple District

Although the temple district in East Rim isn't as large or as varied as West Rim, it still holds a sizeable variety of churches. Shiva, Amun, and Anubis all have sizeable congregations.

Most nobles who aren't important enough to have estates scattered around the capital will have a home here in the temple district, mixed in among the churches. It is a well-built, low-crime area, making it suitable for those of high blood.

Temple to Indra

The largest temple in Northrock, of course dedicated to the Storm God, Indra. It overlooks the Cliff Falls west of town. Part of this temple is open-roofed, much like its counterpart in East Rim, but it can only hold 300 people at a time for a ceremony. Another part of the temple is closed-roofed and houses brethren and servants of the church. Bishop Solomon Windmere is the presiding priest and he reports to His Holiness High Priest Cardon in the West Rim.

Temple to Indra

This open-roofed, waterfront "temple" is almost more of a shrine to the God of Storms. It is administered by Bishop Elmo Sonebrook, who reports to His Holiness, High Priest Cardon in West Rim. The open areas in this temple can hold up to a thousand people at once, and ceremonies are sometimes held during heavy storms with rain pouring down on the congregation and thunder clapping overhead. From the cliff-top, there is also a view of the tumultuous sea below.

The Cliff Falls

Water from the three lakes flows through a series of cracks and trenches to the rocky northern cliffs where it pours three hundred feet off the edge to the water below. In times after heavy rains, the dozens of waterfalls create a five mile long spectacle.

The Dusty Dryad

A tavern at the intersection between the West Rim Docks and the east/west roads. The biggest and most important of all taverns in the south rims. The inn is owned by Katilde and Althalos Fendren, but Katilde handles most of the day-to-day work. Although it has been rumored that Althalos is a member of the Redridge Gentlemen, The Dusty Dryad is friendly to most all of the guidls, and the inn itself stays entirely neutral when it comes to guild business. It's far enough away from the main part of West Rim that authorities would have a hard time enforcing the law, so they generally stay away as long as Katilde and Althalos keep things in order (which they do).

The Dwarves of Dusaro

Dwarves can live anywhere there's stone, even on an island in the middle of an ocean. This small community has dug into the hills and rocks wherever they can find int he center of the island. Although there's not much mining to be done in Nameless, their skill at stonework is highly valued and the make quite a living selling their services to the cities of the island. Many of the exquisite merchant palaces on the island were built by the Dwarves of Dusaro.

CITY INFO:
Population is around 110

The Guilty Bard

A tavern directly across the street from the West Docks. Its proprietor, Waleron, stays completely out of guild business, but prides himself on being a purveyer of information. In fact, he's actually an accomplished scholar who's traveled the world, studied at the Great Library in Faca under Loremaster Zebulon, and written a dozen books. He concentrates mainly on the history of the trade in the east, notably the Copo Dues Bay and East/West Trade Seas. Waleron's services do not come cheaply, but he is willing to help anybody for a price. Both the guilds and the authorities in Nameless use him as a resource, and respect his desire to stay out of the middle of things.

Waleron is of the Expert class.

The Jade Fist Company

Where there are wealthy merchants, there are mercenaries. The Jade Fist Company serves those with coin who lack faith in the law enforement of West Rim. They are the sworn enemy of virtually every guild in Nameless, save perhaps Buccaneer's Congregation.

The Pale Woods

An unusual feature on a tropical island, these aspen trees grow in a unique crevice of the hills where cold air and precipitation whip down from the hilltops.

The Scarlet Goose

A large inn in the hills on the road to Palervale. The proprietor is an exceptionally rotund fellow named Farley McCloud who brags that he's a member of the Flock of Dawn. When he gets drunk, he explains to patrons that he's a skilled assassin. This seems extraordinarily unlikely, which means it just might be true.

The Sweaty Dancer

A rustic inn on the East Road on the outskirts of Northrock. Proprietor is an old orc named Hiruk S'gnar. There's actually a small community of its own around the Sweaty Dancer called "Monsters Borough" by most. Hiruk is sort of the de facto leader of this hodge-podge settlement of monstrous humanoids.

The Zoo

According to the brilliant, multi-colored sign over the entrance, this zoo is actually called the "Glory of Yondalla" -- the same name as the organization of Halfling thieves that owns it and uses it as the legitimate face of their illicit operations. It represents an imaginative collection of beasts from around the world: An elaphant, a pair of lions, a giraffe, a managerie of monkeys, and more. The collection really represents a "vice" of the Halflings, and they take great pride in it.

Inside the zoo compound there are also buildings dedicated to the guild, and supposedly a much more extensive network underground, including training rooms where they hone their skills.

Three Lakes

Long ago, an underground cavern collapsed, leaving three deep, sheer depressions 500 feet deep. Heavy rainfall on the western side of the island has filled up the three depressions to create a series of lakes.

Three Lakes Winery

A rather small winery built right on the edge of the Three Lakes. It consists of about 25 acres of vineyards and three small buildings (a workhouse, a two-roomed living quarters, and a stone storage warehouse).

Formerly owned by "Uncle Abe" Liernan, who was loathe to pass the winery on to his nephew, Quinn, whom he considered to be a bit of a meathead. Alas, the Liernan family ended up getting on the wrong side of an angry lich. Quinn was murdered at a party and Abe killed in his house, causing the winery to fall into the hands of the League of Unsavory Gentlemen. They decided to keep the vintner, Clifton Belleville, on board to run the joint for a 30% cut of net profits.

Trindam's Pass

Small village in the flatlands around the Rio Branco. In this, the only flatland area on the east side of the island with access to fresh water for irrigation, independent farmers setup fields and soon others joined them, forming a small village. It is a point of contention whether the members of this village are technically vassals of Bremer or Palervale. The inhabitants would say neither.

The village has a small inn called the Dancing Dog, run by a lady named Aelyth Camblewick. The mayor is a venerable halfling sage named Oswood Goodbody.

Van's Swamp

Deep in this swamp lies the ruined keep of Van Vernold, constructed in his hayday, before the area sank into an underground bog.

West Docks

The larger set of docks in West Rim spans a 1.5 mile long inlet on the Bay of Storms. While nothing is actually considered "safe" in Nameless, the authorities do their best to patrol and regulate this sector of town.

Western Farms

Most commoners in West Rim live in either the Common Quarter or on the western farms. These farms are well-protected by Indra's Palms and have some of the most amenable land in Nameless despite the cramped area. Technically, all the land in West Rim belongs to Count Ostryd, but that has little real meaning. The western farmers consider themselves to "own" their land and they do with it as they choose.

Windward Coast

The north and east sides of the island are beaten viciously by wind and storms, making them all but un-sailable. The rocky coast doesn't help.

Yeoman's Inn

A very old inn run by an elf named Isorfindel. Yeomen was actually his father and founded the inn some 400 years ago. It is a very large inn, ironically dwarven in construction. Two fully-stone stories stand above ground and at least one more level has been dug into the bedrock itself. When Yeoman had the inn built, he wanted to have rooms suitable for distinguished dwarven guests to thank them for their help in construction, so the nicest room in the inn is actually in the basement.

It is rumored that Yeoman might be involved with one of the local guilds, and that perhaps there are more levels dug into the earth below this 400-year-old inn.
